Tuesday June 16

The swamp was a hubbub of activity. The goose contingent was on hand in case anything exciting happend. Ozzie was called for jury duty and so far has not been released. Octomom and Kate were releasesd from their 24 hours of contempt of court jail time with a strict admonition from Judge Harry to keep out of his court for the duration of the jury selection and trial! Harriet and Jon looked longingly at each other as they watched their goslings, but with their spouses being sequestered for one reason or another, they could not continue their midnight tysts.
Jury selection continues with more than a few being excused. The most amazing is that the 3 mosquitoes summoned have been excused because they probably won't live until the trial starts. The twitter around the swamp (and being sent to the whole forest by a flicker) is that the process should be over today. Eight jurors have already been seated. One Ruddy duck (Rudy) has been summoned (but not yet chosen) and his brother continues to patrol the water keeping the swamp safe. The Men in Black are continuing their vigil from snipper spots in case of trouble. And they are volunteering their time...no pay! In this economy...can you imagine? That's dedication!!

Monday, June 16

Today began the jury selection began for the trial of Cody, the Coot, against whom there are 2 counts of duckslaughter. The selection was delayed since the 3 turtles summoned were late in arriving. Slow and steady...however, one stopped along the road to lay eggs!! June Bugs, turkeys, deer, humming birds, coyotes, geese, Coots, Ruddy ducks, Great Horned owls, Golden eye ducks, mackerel, swallows, mosquitoes, and a moose were also summoned.
These geese community of 7 families with a total of close to 60 adults and goslings took their places early in the court room. Octomom and Kate fought over front row seats for their broods. Judge Harry summarily had the bailiff remove all geese from the court room for the duration of the jury selection. Kate and Octomom engage in a serious girl goose fight!! Feathers were flying. Both were held in contempt of court for 24 hours. Cooler heads prevailed! Harriet thoughtfully suggested that all the gesse families could spend the day together playin in the lily pond, swap, or lake. A good time was had by all (except Octomom and Kate who continued to scream at each other through the bar of their individual jail cells).
